How to Manage Muscular Dystrophy ?

How to Manage Muscular Dystrophy ? Muscular dystrophy can simply refers to a certain group of inherited genetic conditions that can gradually cause the muscles to weaken. It can lead to an increasing level of disability. This disorder actually varies in age, the severity and the area it affects in the body. It causes heavy damage to the body if treatment is notb in place.

Mutation in the genes that are responsible for healthy muscle structure and function cause muscular dystrophy. The mutation means that the cells that would normally maintain the muscles can no longer fulfill their roles. Subsequently leading to progressive muscle weaknesses over time

Muscular dystrophy is not contagious and you cannot get it from an injury. Why ? Because it is genetic. Some type of this condition can affect some parts of the body. For example, the eyes, brain, spine, heart, lungs and all vital organs of the human body.

Muscular dystrophy doesn’t have a particular region, state, country, race, where it affects neither is it limited to any particular gender. Body cells will not work properly when a protein is changed or when the body doesn’t produce enough protein.

Treatment And Management of Muscular Dystrophy : Currently, there is no permanent cure for Muscular. Dystrophy however, treatment is for managing symptoms and improving quality of life. However, we can achieve some results through physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy  and Occupational Therapy

This is one way that can help manage this issue. The main aim of the physiotherapist is to strenghten and stretch the tight muscles. Moreover, a professional Physiotherapist may recommend exercises that can help to maintain movement functions of muscles affected by muscular dystrophy. These exercises are to prevent contractures, stiffening of the muscles near a joint that limits movement in the affected part of the body.
