Physiotherapy For Head Injury

A head injury refers to any trauma to the head, including the scalp, skull, or brain. It can range from a minor bump or bruise to serious brain injury. Head injuries are typically classified into two broad categories:

Closed Head Injury: The skull remains intact, and there is no penetration into the brain. Examples: Concussion, contusion (bruise), or hematoma (blood clot).

Penetrating Head Injury: An object breaks through the skull and enters the brain tissue. Examples: Injuries from gunshots or sharp objects.

Common Causes:

  • Falls (a leading cause, especially in young children and elderly people)
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Physical assaults
  • Workplace accidents
